Ruth’s love and passion for pottery began in the early 70’s when she was able to spend a few precious years embedded in clay. By 1976 she traded in her hand-built kick wheel for years of travel, discovering other lands and cultures, and then, to raise a family. A member at Expressions since 2019, Ruth has rekindled her love for clay and is more recently driven by her new passion for the art of Raku—-a traditional Japanese method of creating ornamental pottery. For Ruth, there is little that is more gratifying then sitting around a Raku kiln in the combined effort of creating and sharing with friends; she finds the most joy in these shared moments. Ruth strives to continue growing and developing as a potter, knowing that there is an endless amount to learn for all those who are inspired.
