Becoming a Renter

A Renter liaison, who is a Member of the studio, provides an introduction and overview of the studio to all new Renters and is available for ongoing support to aid Renters in learning about all aspects of using the studio and answering any questions that may arise.

Renters are welcomed into the cooperative and have access to all that we offer including the opportunity to participate in Raku firings for a nominal fee. Occasionally Expressions runs workshops and member demos for which participation will be offered to Renters.

Studio rental is available with a minimum of 3 months commitment. In addition to the monthly fee, a refundable security deposit of $50 is paid prior to rental and is refundable within one month of leaving the active Renter role.

Bisque weight of up to 12 pounds is included in the monthly rent. Additional weight is charged to the Renter at a rate of $7.50 per pound of bisque weight. There are no firing fees and Renters do not pay for use of our wide variety of glazes. Renters are required to purchase clay through the studio which is discounted to the Member price. Storage space for greenware is shared with Members and Students, and Renters are expected to follow safety guidelines established by the studio and always leave the studio clean and ready for others to use.

Should you be interested in renting, please download the rental application and submit it for consideration to the Expressions Board along with two letters of recommendation to verify your experience. We are always accepting applications; however, studio rental space is subject to availability. If no spaces are available, the next open slot goes to the first person on the waiting list maintained in order of the date of application. The rental application is available for download here: Rental Application.
