I've been working with clay since 2008, when I decided on a whim to take a class at a studio in Toronto. After moving back to the US and settling in New England, I found Expressions in 2018 and have been here ever since.

Ceramics is something that feels endless to me -- there's always something new to learn, an unfamiliar technique to try, a rabbit hole to go down. It's also an exercise in letting go, since things can go wrong at any and every step of the way. While this is frustrating, it's also forced me to not get attached to a piece until it's truly finished. I think that this lesson has carried over into other parts of my life, too; I find myself shrugging and trying again, or just accepting mistakes in the first place, if things don't work out instead of striving for a perfection that is not always (ever) attainable.

In my practice, I enjoy both handbuilding and throwing on the wheel, and I love texture and color. Recently, I've been on a quest to greatly improve my mug handles.
